Our Admission Process

1. Viewing & Meeting

When we receive a query, we invite the potential resident and their loved ones to visit Shannon Lodge Nursing Home for a viewing and an initial meeting. This is conducted by the management team and will give the potential resident and their family an opportunity to understand how care is planned and managed. It is also an opportunity to ask questions and gain a greater understanding of what can be expected from Shannon Lodge Nursing Home, our staff and management.
2. Pre-Admission Assessment

Our management team will conduct a pre-admission assessment when the resident and their loved ones are happy that living in Shannon Lodge Nursing Home is the best option for the new resident. The pre-admission assessment may be conducted in a hospital, another nursing home or in a person’s home. Where ever the person is currently living, we can accommodate the assessment. On occasions, it may be possible or advisable for the person to come to Shannon Lodge Nursing Home for an assessment, although this would be the exception rather than the rule. The assessment is carried out with the permission and, if possible, the co-operation of the new resident and/or their loved ones.

We request information about the new resident's:
  • Social Circumstances
  • Spiritual Preferences
  • Medical History
  • Medication Requirements
  • Current Treatments / Care Plans
  • Continued medical or other professional support they require
3. Contract of Care

A contract of care will be agreed with the new resident and their loved ones and an admission date will then be agreed to suit all involved based on the residents needs, availability and wishes of the family.
